About accounting webinars

Accounting is the second-busiest industry on CMD/CTRL. Most of what's listed falls into three groups.

Tax and compliance

The Australian Taxation Office runs a steady programme of free sessions on tax, GST and BAS, payroll and super and record keeping, some for practitioners and some for their clients. State revenue offices cover payroll tax, land tax and duties, which change with each state budget and catch out businesses that grow across a threshold.

Firm updates

Accounting and advisory firms run briefings on budgets, tax policy, the R&D tax incentive and year-end planning. They're a fast way to hear what's changed and how it's being read, from people who advise on it every day.

Reporting and the wider practice

Sessions on financial reporting and sustainability reporting are growing as mandatory climate disclosures reach more companies. Others cover running a practice: cybersecurity, AI, workplace relations and client advice on business finance.

Most sessions run 45 to 60 minutes at lunchtime, and a good share are free.

Frequently asked questions

Do these webinars count towards my CPD?

Many do, and where the host says how much a session is worth, the listing shows it. CPA Australia and CA ANZ members need 120 CPD hours over three years, with at least 20 in each year, and registered tax and BAS agents have continuing education requirements set by the Tax Practitioners Board. Check your own body's rules for what counts and keep the host's attendance record.

Are ATO webinars worth attending?

For practitioners, usually. The ATO's sessions explain how it is applying the law and what it will be looking at, which is hard to get anywhere else. They are free, and most are aimed at either tax professionals or small business owners, so check the description for which.

Can I watch a recording if I miss the live session?

It depends on the host. Many firms and agencies send a recording to everyone who registers, but not all do, and a recording may not count for CPD in the same way. Register anyway if you can't make the time; it's usually the only way to be sent one.

How do I register for these webinars?

Registration always happens with the host. Each listing links straight to the organiser's own sign-up page, and CMD/CTRL never collects your details on their behalf.

What time zone are the times shown in?

Every time is shown in Sydney time first, with Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth alongside. Each listing also has an Add to calendar link that converts to your own time zone.

Are accounting webinars free?

Many are. Each listing shows its cost as Free, a price in AUD, or N/A when the organiser doesn't publish one. You can see only free webinars, or combine industry, topic and cost on the full list.

How often is this page updated?

Every morning. New listings are added as hosts announce them, and webinars that have finished drop off at the next update, so everything here is still to come.

Can I list a accounting webinar here?

Yes, and it's free. Send us the details and we'll check it and add it. Featured placement is also available.
