About small business webinars

Small business is the biggest industry on CMD/CTRL, and the most practical. These sessions are made for people running a business, not advising one, and many are free.

Employing people

Workplace relations is the most-covered subject: awards and pay, contracts, rosters, warnings and dismissals, and how the Fair Work Ombudsman is enforcing the rules in particular sectors. Payroll and super and work health and safety sessions cover the rest of an employer's obligations.

Money and tax

The ATO runs regular free sessions on tax, GST and BAS, record keeping and what to do if you fall behind. Banks and advisers cover business finance, cash flow and borrowing.

Growing the business

Marketing and social media sessions are among the most popular, alongside business planning, exporting, tenders and grants, and exit and succession for owners planning their next step.

Looking after yourself

Running a small business is demanding. State small business bodies and wellbeing providers run sessions on mental health and wellbeing for owners as well as their teams.

Sessions from Indigenous Business Australia and others on Indigenous business are listed here too.

Frequently asked questions

Are there free webinars for small business owners?

Plenty. Government agencies such as the ATO, the Fair Work Ombudsman and state small business bodies run free sessions throughout the year, and chambers of commerce and banks run many more. Look for Free on each listing.

I'm just starting out. Where should I begin?

Start with the sessions on starting a business, then tax and GST and BAS so your record keeping is right from the beginning. If you'll employ people, add workplace relations and payroll and super before your first hire.

Do I need to be a member to attend chamber of commerce webinars?

Not usually. Many chamber and industry association sessions are open to everyone, sometimes with a member discount. The listing shows the price, and the host's page says whether membership is needed.

How do I register for these webinars?

Registration always happens with the host. Each listing links straight to the organiser's own sign-up page, and CMD/CTRL never collects your details on their behalf.

What time zone are the times shown in?

Every time is shown in Sydney time first, with Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth alongside. Each listing also has an Add to calendar link that converts to your own time zone.

Are small business webinars free?

Many are. Each listing shows its cost as Free, a price in AUD, or N/A when the organiser doesn't publish one. You can see only free webinars, or combine industry, topic and cost on the full list.

How often is this page updated?

Every morning. New listings are added as hosts announce them, and webinars that have finished drop off at the next update, so everything here is still to come.

Can I list a small business webinar here?

Yes, and it's free. Send us the details and we'll check it and add it. Featured placement is also available.
